Sitges brings together over a hundred scientists at the second congress of the Gaia data processing and analysis consortium

From January 23rd to 27th, the Hotel Melià de Sitges will host the second congress of the consortium DPAC (Data processing and analysis consortium) of the Gaia  mission of the European Space Agency (ESA).

Waiting for the Solar Storm

Solar storms are now becoming a phenomenon of risk given the great social dependence of electricity and communications. Last year the president of the United States gave the alert, with his executive order "Coordinating Efforts to Prepare the Nation for Space Weather Events". The question now is if more countries are becoming aware of the need to work on the forecast and prevention of these phenomena.

The ICCUB researcher Blai Sanahuja, speaks about the different phaenomena caused by solar storms.

2nd Gaia DPAC Consortium Meeting

The second DPAC consortium meeting with the participation of representatives from all CUs and DPCs will be held this January in Sitges. The main goal of the meeting is to provide a forum to share and discuss the experience of the first data release, reviewing the first scientific results of Gaia to prepare for the second data release and work on cross-CU/DPC issues.
